Welcome to the ’Ilm Retreat

The ’Ilm Retreat is a landmark community-wide initiative taking place across cities throughout the UK, dedicated to fostering spiritual growth, sacred knowledge, and brotherhood. Delivered through a unique collaboration of local masājid, scholars (ʿUlamāʾ), and community organisations, the retreat bridges the gap between traditional scholarship and the wider community, particularly our youth and the next generation in an open, uplifting environment.

What to Expect

​Held over an immersive weekend, the retreat blends foundational sacred learning with practical, modern relevance:

​Sacred Knowledge & Contemporary Guidance: Inspiring keynote addresses, Qur’an and Ḥadīth discourses (dars), and interactive workshops addressing real-world challenges ranging from modern digital dilemmas to family life and education.

​Spiritual Nourishment: Heart-softening circles of dhikr, durūd, congregational prayer, and reflective late-night murāqabah.

​Direct Access to Scholars: Dedicated spaces to break barriers, seek advice, and engage with respected scholars informally, whether over shared hot meals or open conversation circles such as “Shakes with Shaykhs”.

​Brotherhood & Holistic Wellbeing: Active camaraderie and recreation through Sunnah sports and martial arts sessions.

​Free, Accessible & Inclusive

​The ’Ilm Retreat is completely free of charge, with complimentary food and refreshments served throughout the weekend to welcome attendees of every background. Delivered in English, the programme is open to all age groups. For sisters and those unable to attend in person, sessions are broadcast live online.
